The Hereford High Gay-Straight Alliance meets Wednesdays for the full enrichment hour in Trailer 2. The GSA hopes to create a safe environment at Hereford High School and the community for students to support each other and learn about homophobia and other oppressions; educate the Hereford community about homophobia, gender identity, and sexual orientation issues; and fight discrimination, harassment, and violence in schools.

GSA sent Laura C., Andrew D., Shawn F., Brian M., Maryanna P., and Sam W. to the Maryland State Pupil Personnel Workers Annual Fall Conference in Baltimore on November 3 to discuss as a panel the issue of harassment with educators, administrators, and counselors.

To recognize World AIDS Day, GSA held an assembly featuring Positive Voices, a choral group of men living with HIV, on November 29.

GSA sponsored this year's Day of Silence on Wednesday, April 26. GSA took part in this national youth movement by remaining silent for a school day to protest the harassment, prejudice, and discrimination faced by LGBTQA people (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, and allied). GSA also designed and purchased t-shirts to recognize the event.
