National Art Honor Society
In 1997, Hereford High School began a chapter of the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) program specifically for high school students grade 9-12, for the purpose of inspiring and recognizing those students who have shown an outstanding ability in art. The NAHS strives to aid members in working toward the attainment of the high standards in art areas, and to bring art education to the attention to the school and the community. For students who achieve high standards, are programs must maintain a substantive focus by choosing art content that includes complex problem-solving and higher order thinking skills, and serious alignment of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional development that results in student learning.
The Hereford chapter has supported the arts in the surrounding community through contributions of art supplies, student projects, and monetary gifts. The chapter has also worked to improve the art department facilities through donation of new equipment.
