Jamie Higgins Shaull (jhigginsshaull@bcps.org) - Department Chair

Jamie Higgins Shaull has been the chair of the Hereford social studies department since the 2013-14 school year. Mrs. Higgins Shaull holds a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from the Pennsylvania State University and a master’s degree in Instructional Technology and School Library Media from Towson University and is currently working towards her Administrator I certificate. She currently teaches Advanced Placement Research (part of the AP Capstone program), AP US history, and Honors US history. She is also one of the Class of 2024 advisors and works with the Rho Kappa National Social Studies honors society. Mrs. Higgins Shaull enjoys reading, traveling to the beach, renovating her home, and spending time with her husband Rob, sons Connor (7) and Brennan (5), and black lab Barkley.

Brittney Beer (bbeer@bcps.org)

Brittney Beer joined the Hereford High staff in the fall of 2018. After spending four years at Chesapeake High School as the Library Media Specialist, she realized that her heart was in the Social Studies classroom. Prior to her time at CHS, Mrs. Beer taught US History at Dundalk High School. Mrs. Beer holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in history from Lebanon Valley College and a Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology and School Library Media from Towson University. At Hereford, Mrs. Beer teaches all levels of US history (AP, Honors, and Standard). She advises the Black Excellence Club at HHS. When she is not at school, Mrs. Beer enjoys spending time with her husband Eric and two sons, Raymond & Reid. She also enjoys reading, rooting for Baltimore sports teams, and teaching her sons all they need to know about Harry Potter, Star Wars, and all other nerdy things (which is everything).

Sarah Crue (scrue@bcps.org)

Sarah Crue joined the Hereford Social Studies faculty in 2016. Ms. Crue holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Studies Secondary Education from Mount St. Mary’s University and a Masters in Instructional Technology from Towson University. Ms. Crue currently teaches Government and AP Government and Politics. Ms. Crue is the advisor for the Model United Nations club. In her spare time Ms. Crue enjoys skiing, reading, and traveling. She also loves to go hiking with her dog, Rudy and fiancé, John.  


Caitlin Fisher

Caitlin Fisher is a graduate of Salisbury University with majors in History and Secondary Education. She also holds a graduate degree from Towson University in Educational Leadership. Mrs. Fisher began teaching at Hereford in the 2019-2020 school year and has 5 years of experience in secondary social studies within the BCPS system. Mrs. Fisher currently teaches US History and American Government. She also helps to advise the For our Troops club. In her spare time, Mrs. Fisher enjoys spending time with her sons Shawn and Grayson and her husband Ethan. She also likes to read, is a competitive swimmer, teaches swim lessons, and is venturing into home improvement.


Rob Greenwood

Rob Greenwood is a graduate of Towson University with majors in History and Secondary Education. and he holds a graduate degree in Exercise Science/Physical Education from McDaniel College. Mr.Greenwood currently teaches AP Psychology, American Government, and World history.  He enjoys baseball, snowboarding, guitar, SUP, and Florida summers. Mr. Greenwood is also an avid World War II enthusiast and is the advisor to the For our Troops club. He is the proud father of Makenzie and Jameson and his wife Jennifer is a mathematics professor at Carroll Community College.

Peter Imhoff

Peter Imhoff joined the social studies faculty in the 2008-2009 school year after teaching at Pikesville High School in Baltimore County for 11 years. Mr. Imhoff also taught social studies in Reading, Massachusetts and English in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. Mr. Imhoff  holds a Bachelor's Degree in History from Bowdoin College and a Master’s degree in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Mr. Imhoff currently teaches AP World History, World History, and AP Human Geography. He is the sponsor of the Student Congress Debate Club and the Chess Club. Mr. Imhoff is the father of two sons, Sam and Nick. He enjoys hiking, mountain bike riding, home improvement, and reading.

Ed Martin (emartin3@bcps.org

Ed Martin began his teaching career at Hereford in the Fall of 2014 after graduating from Salisbury University. Mr. Martin holds a bachelor’s degree in History- Secondary Education and holds minors in Social Studies and Political Science. He currently teaches AP Economics, AP European History, and Personal Finance and Economic Theory. He also advises the Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honors Society. In his spare time Mr. Martin enjoys golfing, going camping, reading and gaming. He is also an Eagle Scout and remains active in the scouting program.


Nolan Roe (nroe@bcps.org)

Nolan Roe joined the Social Studies Department at Hereford High in the fall of 2017.  He has a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Bowling Green State University and a Master’s Degree in Liberal Studies from Loyola University Maryland.  Prior to working at Hereford, Mr. Roe worked for BCPS at Catonsville Middle School and Western Tech High School.  He is currently teaching World history, and Abnormal Psychology. Outside of school, Mr. Roe resides in Harford County, is an avid NBA fan, and enjoys traveling with his wife Bunnie and son Mason.


Randal Smith

Randal Smith is entering his eighth year of teaching and his first at Hereford High School in the 2021-22 school year. Mr. Smith holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the Pennsylvania State University and a Master’s degree in Secondary Education - Social Studies from Loyola University of Maryland. Mr. Smith currently teaches Government and Philosophy. Mr. Smith has a passion for all things social studies and math, is an Eagle Scout, and enjoys hiking, reading, ice hockey, and spending time with family.


Jeff Walters

Jeff Walters joined the Hereford Social Studies faculty in fall of 2021. Mr. Walters has taught in Baltimore County Public Schools for the past 11 years at Deer Park Middle Magnet, Lansdowne, and Pikesville Middle schools. Mr. Walters holds a bachelor's degree in Social Studies Secondary Education and a master's degree in Human Resource Development/School Administration from Towson University. Mr. Walters teaches American Government and World History. Outside of school, he is a foodie that enjoys cooking, grilling, making art, and going hiking with his wife Jenn (who is also a teacher) twin children Sloane and Bishop, and dog Asher.
