
The Maryland State Seal of Biliteracy is awarded to students who demonstrate an intermediate high proficiency level or higher in a language other than English.
Interested students can earn the Seal in one of three ways:
1) By earning a score of 4 or 5 on a College Board AP World Language and Culture Exam
Languages: Spanish, French, Chinese (Mandarin), German, Italian, Japanese
2) By earning a composite score of I5 or higher on the ACTFL AAPPL Exam
Languages: Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.
3) By earning a composite score of I5 or higher on the ACTFL OPI & WPT for the Seal of Biliteracy Exam
Languages: Albanian, Amharic, Bengali/Bangla, Bosnia/Croatian, Bulgarian, Cantonese, Dari, Gujarati, Haitian Creole, Hebrew, Hindi, Malayalam, Pashto, Polish, Swahili, Tamil, Tagalog, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese and Yoruba
